Dr Mehmet Oz Maverick- Podcast 148
Healing Is Not Quackery
Dr. Oz stood up to 10 physicians from Columbia University over the last few days. The doctors are accusing Dr. Oz of quackery. His response is, “You may not agree with me, but this is a democracy, the cornerstone of which is free speech.”
Furthermore, Dr. Oz’s life mission is to offer Americans an avenue to good health practices.
Dr. Oz used to be a Cardiologist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He employed Therapeutic Touch Healers to meditate in the next room while he performed heart surgery in the surgical suite. The recovery times were consistently cut in half over those who did not have the benefit of Therapeutic Touch Healers in the next room.
Prayer works the same way. Prayers for healing create miracles every time.
In 1998, I wrote a letter to the New York Times which was not published. Nevertheless, the letter addressed a fourth grade science project that sought to disprove the validity of Therapeutic Touch. JAMA (Journal Of The American Medical Association) wrote it up and the New York Times responded soon after.
The New York Times stated that seeking to disapprove or debunk at the onset of any scientific experiment is not the way of pure science. And the nine-year-old fourth grader at the onset of her project set out to do just that.
The article was entitled “A Child’s Paper Poses A Medical Challenge,” written in response to the JAMA article “A Close Look At Therapeutic Touch.”
My letter addressed the JAMA article itself. At the time, I served an indigent population as a Nurse Practitioner in York, Pennsylvania. I practiced one form of energy healing, as taught by Dr. Leonard Laskow, author of Healing With Love, without the permission or knowledge of the attending physician.
When I pray for someone’s recovery, I could ask them for permission and often do, but don’t ask permission of their physician. 20 years later, these attitudes still persist. Dr. Oz is a Maverick and I have the utmost respect for him.
And I love his magazine, The Good Life. It is chock full of health tips. I’ve tried many of them, and they work! Whatever you do, buy it at your local CVS pharmacy or supermarket.
